The Department of Science and Technology has, through its established Nanotechnology Ethics Committee, developed a Code of Conduct for nanotechnology research and development, which is currently in a draft form. This Code of Conduct seeks to create an environment for safe and responsible N&N research and development (R&D), protecting researchers, consumers and the environment;
The development of the Code of Conduct is a direct response to the call by the National Nanotechnology Strategy that efforts be put in place to ensure that the development and application of nanotechnology in the country are done in accordance with international best practice in industrial and environmental safety standards.
A national consultative workshop is being organised to discuss the draft Code of Conduct and solicit inputs from the broad nanotechnology community and other stakeholders before it is finalised. The workshop will take place as follows:
Date : 10 to 11 July 2014
Venue : TBC
The broader nanotechnology community, stakeholders and interested parties are invited to this workshop. Make sure that you are part of this important process in our nanotechnology development endeavours and reserve the above mentioned dates to participate in the workshop. More details will be provided in due course.
