4th European Crystallography School (ECS4)
News category: Nanoannounce
In the XXI-st century crystallography has become the most important experimental method for chemical structure investigations. It is extremely fast, reliable and may be used in different environments, including mother solutions in which crystals are grown, elevated pressures and variable temperatures. Furthermore, the new possibilities have been developing fast: tiny crystals, short data collection time, immediate structure analysis, etc. All these contribute to the present image of the field.
It is of fundamental importance for chemists to know and understand recent developments of crystallography. Hence, the ECS4 Summer School is dedicated to chemists and young crystallographers who would like to master their knowledge of modern X-ray crystallography and/or to improve their experimental capabilities by learning the state-of-the-art methodologies and range of possible applications of crystallography in solving chemical problems in materials science, pharmaceuticals, biomedical, and others. The program of the school contains substantial part consisting of different ways of validation and interpretation of the results of structure analyses. Different levels of viewing the structure will be discussed, i.e., from routine analysis to advanced charge density studies. Also the dynamics of crystal structures constitutes an important topic of the School and extends from crystal structure responses to external conditions to chemical reactivity in the solid phase.
We encourage and invite all chemists and crystallographers to review the program of the school and apply for participation. In addition to scientific sessions, the organizers will provide nice social program, so you will be able to establish new cooperation and, last but not least, to see the attractions of Warsaw and its surroundings.
