Dr Steven Mufamadi

Dr Steven Mufamadi is currently the founder and Managing Director of Nabio (Pty) Ltd, co/founder of the South Africa Nanotechnology Symposia series (HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Cancer and Energy) and Merck SA Bridging Day (via his Industry Bridge Program Initiative). Dr Mufamadi has also assisted during the following programmes; the 2017 L’Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science Awards in Africa and Symposium on Clinical Research in Africa (SCRiA). He has successfully completed the Next Generation Scientist (NGS) program in Nanomedicine at Novartis Pharma, Basel, Switzerland in 2013. He has served as the adjudicator/advisor and facilitator of the GAP Innovation Competitions by The Innovation Hub Management Company (TIHMC), Germany-DAAD scholarship, British Council International FameLab (South Africa), Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) chemical station, DST-NRF Scientific writing & presentation skills workshops, Eskom International Science Fairs and many more.

Dr Mufamadi has earned his PhD in Pharmaceutics from Wits University, Entrepreneurship short courses (University of Pretoria) and [Ecole Polytechique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland]. He has authored and co-authored three patents, one filled by World Intellectual Property Organization, several peer-reviewed scientific publications, congress abstracts and book chapters.  He was featured in the media, The Star, Pretoria newspapers, and SAFM, etc.

Dr Mufamadi was awarded as an International Inventor by the Wits enterprise & Wits University Innovation Forum. He has also received other several outstanding awards from the South African Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences for the best peer reviewed research paper of Pharmaceutics published in 2012/13 (Journal Pharmaceutical Research), National Health Scholar Programme an initiative by National Health Research Committee and  Gauteng Biotech communicator of the year by BioFundi Award. Biofundi awards are an initiative from the collaboration of Gauteng Department of Rural Development (GDARD) and The Innovation Hub Management Company (TIHMC).

Dr Mufamadi is currently a P-member of the National Nanotechnologies Committee at the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS).
