Gas traps release a cloud of gas when any pawn hostile to your faction walks too close. Severity builds up for as long as a pawn is in the gas. Requires IEDBomb research to build.

As it turns out, the masks were already there, they just weren’t being used. This was probably because many of the masks were just a few pixels off here and there and never got fixed before the game’s release.
I think it's CE that adds smoke to fires. It will fill up an area pretty fast from a relatively small fire and it's absolutely devastating to anything living thing without a gas mask. It works the same as heat in that it will slowly flow out an open door or hole in the roof.
